With a new year comes hopes and dreams for our family. My biggest wish, and resolution, is for the kids to be happy and healthy this year! I have partnered with Gerber® Good Start® and want to share our #formulaforhappiness with you today.
We recently joined our local YMCA and couldn’t be more excited about the facilities and programs that it offers. Right now our goal is to exercise there 3 times per week, which we think is totally possible considering that they provide free childcare while we work out! Best. Idea. Ever. We also plan on enrolling the kids in swimming lessons there throughout the year, as well as other sports and classes that the YMCA offers.
The three older kiddos participate in sports throughout the year (soccer, baseball, track, gymnastics, dance, etc.), and this is the first year that Enzo will be able to play soccer! We love that the kids want to be involved in activities that keep them moving!
This will be a challenging one. With all of the running around that we do, it is so hard to take the time to plan healthy meals, let alone prepare them! So this past weekend, I sat down and meal planned for two weeks worth of dinners. It is making such a difference! Since I know what activities we have each night, I can plan the meals accordingly. This eliminates having to run to the grocery store for something every day, or even worse, grabbing fast food. I searched Pinterest for healthy meal ideas, and also got a lot of great slow cooker recipes which are a life-saver on busy nights! So far, we are on the right track with this resolution!
Drink More Water
This goal is pretty self-explanatory. All six of us need to work on this one, so everyone got new water bottles that list the ounces on the container. That way, we can keep track of how much we drink. I know that I always feel better when I drink more water throughout the day, and we’ve all heard the positive effects that water can have on your skin. So its a win-win! We are also cutting way back on juice, soda, tea, and coffee. I can’t wait to see how much better we all feel after we’ve done this for awhile.
Less Screen Time
This goes for everyone. Charley and I want to spend less time on our phones. The kids need to spend less time watching TV and playing games on their iPads. We believe that this will result in more quality time spent as a family. We also want to encourage not only healthy bodies, but healthy minds as well! The kids got so many board games, craft kids, and books for Christmas – it’s time to break those out! As the kids get older, it’s more and more apparent how little time we really get with them. So this year we hope to grow even closer as a family and spend some real quality time together, unplugged!
Did you know that Gerber® Good Start® Infant Formulas are now all Non-GMO: Not made with genetically engineered ingredients. There is no reason to believe that Non-GMO products are healthier than other products, but Gerber® Good Start® Infant Formulas has made this change in order to meet the evolving preferences of formula using parents. Very exciting!
I would love for you to share YOUR thoughts on the Non-GMO initiative! And please share in the comments your #formulaforhappiness tips and tricks. I can’t wait to read!
